Previous Projects from 2008
Hey all!
The following are some pictures of the old projects done by students from 2E4, 2E5 and 2E6 in 2008. Apologies for the poor picture resolutions. They don't do many of the projects justice. Also, I couldn't get my hands on the pictures of some other projects that did really well. So here's just a sample to trigger some ideas. You may also take a look at Ms Jumiah's blog for further inspiration! Check out http://www.mzedmunds.blogspot.com/
As you can see, many students took the idea of 'treehouses' and 'castles' very literally. Though not wrong, you can afford to be ALOT more creative and make links to the novel from a more metaphorical perspective...:)
Something you need to take note of:
1) Avoid using plasticine. It's very messy, gets easily destroyed and stains any paper/cardboard that you use. An alternative would be clay.
2) Your sketches, should as far as possible be drawn to scale so that it would be proportionate and possible to build in real life (ie. You can't have ropes for the children to swing on that are the thickness of treetrunks in real life!)
3) While you are expected to be as original and creative as you can, do bear in mind there are contraints in real life that you still need take note of. (For instance, you can't have an underwater playground and expect children to be able to swim around and breathe freely!)
4) Don't overspend! Work on a budget that is comfortable for every single group member. As far as possible, use recycled materials.
That's all for now! Hope this triggers some thoughts!
